Note | OBITUARY James M. "Ace" Ryan, 92, of Fallston, MD, passed away on June 21, 2015 at the Senator Bob Hooper House in Forest Hill, MD. Born in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late James Michael Ryan and Catherine Elizabeth (Smith) Ryan and husband, for 64 years, of the late Frances L. (Dennis) Ryan. A veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp, he served in the 8th Air Force, 487th Bomb Group during WWII where he was a flight navigator on B17 Bombers. He was a member of the American Legion in Bel Air, the Fallston VFW and the Maryland School Bus Contractors Association. He was Vice President of Heer Brothers Inc. in Baltimore where he worked for 35 years, and was the owner and operator, for 40 years, of Ryan Transportation, Inc. where he transported school children for Harford County Public Schools. He enjoyed being with his family camping, crabbing, and riding his three wheeler which he still did at the age of 92. Mr. Ryan is survived by his sons, James M. Ryan III of Darlington, John D. Ryan of Aberdeen and Jan P. Ryan of Bel Air; daughter, Joyce A. Glorioso of Fallston; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Senator Bob Hooper House, c/o Upper Chesapeake Health Foundation, 520 Upper Chesapeake Drive, Suite 405, Bel Air, MD 21014. A Celebration of Jim's life will be held at Fallston Volunteer Fire Company on Sunday, July 12th from 1 till 5 pm. |
